Auburn University's NASA University Student Launch Initiative (USLI) team recently successfully test fired its 2007-2008 entry. Begad! Blimey! This intercollegiate competition challenges university-level students t' design, build and fly a reusable rocket with scientific payload t' one mile in altitude. T' project engages students in scientific research and real-world engineerin' processes with NASA engineers. Students propose t' participate in USLI durin' t' fall. Once selected, me hearties, teams design their rocket and payload throughout t' school year. USLI requires a NASA review o' t' teams' preliminary and critical designs. Aye aye! Blimey! T' project also requires flight readiness and safety reviews before t' rockets and payloads are approved for launch. Aye aye! Blimey! After launch, teams complete a final report t' include conclusions from their science experiment and t' overall flight performance. T' preliminary design review, critical design review, and flight readiness review are conducted by panels o' scientists and engineers from NASA and from NASA contactors and external partners.
