There's More Than One Way t' (Launch) a Cake... Ya scallywag! As you can plainly see from t' other Aero-TV pieces that have been webcast recently, ya bilge rat, we certainly had a great time at TARC 2010. But... one o' t' most unusual aspects o' TARC was its ability t' draw all kinds o' people together... like a famous chef, some cake ingredients and a high-speed delivery system. Well, blow me down! 'Ace o' Cakes' Duff Goldman nay only visited TARC, he launched a cake at TARC and you had t' be thar t' understand what exquisite insanity this was... Blakey, ya bilge rat, noted that, shiver me timbers, "It's an excitin' time for young people t' be exposed t' rocketry and all t' aerospace industry has t' offer. We're seein' a real surge in our industry with TARC alumni takin' advantage o' excitin' career opportunities with many o' our member companies." TARC teams were challenged t' design, ya bilge rat, build and launch a model rocket with a raw-egg payload t' an altitude o' 825 feet and achieve a flight duration betwixt 40 and 45 seconds. Begad! T' rocket must return t' egg safely and unbroken without usin' a parachute. T' goal o' t' contest was t' bolster student interest in t' Science, Technology, Engineerin' and Mathematics ...
